After watching The Midnight Sky earlier this week, I can vouch for the film to be good. Not only is it more extensive than almost anything George Clooney has tried before, it’s also more intimate in nature. Clooney’s acting and directing are very important here. With the film showing in select theaters tomorrow before it hits Netflix two days before Christmas, the streaming service has released a definitive trailer. This final sales pitch is a good suggestion of what is on display, yet leaves a lot to discover. It’s good so don’t miss out. As always, the trailer can be seen at the end of this post, so read on …
Once again, the film is a science fiction story as you might expect. Here is Netflix’s official recap: “Our humanity always lasts. This post-apocalyptic story follows Augustine (George Clooney), a lonely Arctic scientist who tries to prevent Sully (Felicity Jones) and her fellow astronauts from returning to Earth, where a mysterious global catastrophe has occurred. Clooney is directing the adaptation of Lily Brooks-Dalton’s acclaimed novel Good Morning, Midnight, starring David Oyelowo, Kyle Chandler, Demián Bichir and Tiffany Boone. “In addition to starring, Clooney is also directing from a script by Mark L. Smith. Caoilinn Springall completes the cast. Martin Ruhe takes care of the camera, while the score is by Alexandre Desplat.
