Fans of Disney, the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars had an embarrassing wealth of fortune yesterday. During the presentation for Investor Day 2020 for The Walt Disney Company, the creative forces Kevin Feige, Kathleen Kennedy and others were present to work out much of the developments in the next few years. Much of their focus is on Disney + shows, as well as Pixar service-centered efforts, but they also saved some space for feature talks. Both traits have some high profile movie announcements that have made what the fan base is raving about. Suffice it to say that once the movie world returns to normal, it will have a lot to expect in the years to come.
First, the Marvel news was mostly focused on the new series coming to Disney +, as you’ll see below, but Kevin Fiege and the company also announced that their Fantastic Four movie is in development, with Spider- Man franchise aide Jon Watts takes responsibility. That was probably their most surprising news, along with the announcement of the title for the third Ant-Man film, which will be called Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Read more …
Here’s a bit from the official Marvel article:
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is growing in a huge, exciting way! Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer of Marvel, revealed themselves during the Walt Disney Company’s 2020 Investor Day presentation. Get ready for new series arriving on Disney + in the near future, as well as brand new movies.
“To this day, the Cinematic Universe interweaves storylines, heroes and villains in 23 feature films,” said Fiege. “And with Disney + we can take this kind of storytelling to a new format – by creating series that are tied to our theatrical releases and make the MCU more immersive than ever before.”
Phase 4 of the MCU begins with Marvel Studios ‘WandaVision, which premieres on Disney + January 15, and continues with new films in 2021 – like Marvel Studios’ Black Widow, Marvel Studios Eternals, and more! In addition, the superhero adventures are just beginning on the small screen, and characters like Loki, Ms. Marvel and Kate Bishop will appear in other Disney + series. But that is not all!
Well, Star Wars wise, there was a ton. You can see everything next, but the biggest and most surprising news was that Patty Jenkins is flying into space to pilot a Rogue Squadron strip. They’re obviously also focused on a number of Disney + series, including the Obi-Wan series, which everyone has been waiting for (Hayden Christensen returns as Darth Vader!). So it was a huge day for Disney.
Your own official letter is as follows:
Today at the Walt Disney Company Investor Day, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced a staggering number of new films, series and surprises that will expand the Star Wars galaxy like never before.
The next Star Wars feature film will be Rogue Squadron – directed by Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman franchise). The story will introduce a new generation of Starfighter pilots who earn their wings and risk their lives in a high-speed, cross-border thrill that transports the saga to the galaxy’s future era.
“It was a lifelong dream as a filmmaker to one day make a great fighter pilot film,” said Jenkins. “As the daughter of a great fighter pilot, some of the best memories of my life are seeing my father’s squadron take off in their F4 every morning and hearing and feeling the amazing power and grace. When he died on duty in this country, it sparked a burning desire to one day channel all those emotions into a great movie. When the perfect story combined with another true love of mine, the incomparable world of Star Wars, arrived, I knew I had finally found my next movie. I am very honored and looking forward to it and I am grateful to Lucasfilm, Disney and the fans for showing me this thrill. “
“Patty has established herself as one of the top directors in the film industry today,” said Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm. “She’s a visionary who knows how to strike the balance between action and heart, and I can’t wait to see what she does in the Star Wars galaxy.”

Obi Wan Kenobi
Last August, Lucasfilm announced the return of Ewan McGregor in the legendary role of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi to a special series of events on Disney + at D23 Expo. Officially titled Obi-Wan Kenobi, the series begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, where he witnessed the greatest defeat, doom, and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker Vader became the evil Sith Lord Darth. The series is directed by Deborah Chow, who directed memorable episodes from the first season of The Mandalorian.
This will truly be remembered for a day as it has been confirmed that Hayden Christensen will return as Darth Vader. “This is going to be the rematch of the century,” said Kennedy.
“It’s been an amazing journey playing Anakin Skywalker,” said Christensen. “Of course, Anakin and Obi-Wan weren’t in the best of conditions the last time we saw them… It’ll be interesting to see what a great director like Deborah Chow has in store for all of us. I look forward to working with Ewan again. It feels good to be back. “

Willow will start filming next March in Wales and will debut on Disney + in 2022.
Finally, the Lucasfilm catalog will be expanded to include a story that introduces a new hero and explores an original world that blends perfectly with Lucasfilm’s storytelling: Tomi Adeyemi’s New York Times bestseller Children of Blood & Bone. The story revolves around a young African girl’s frenzied quest to restore the magic of her abandoned people, the maji. Lucasfilm will partner with 20th Century Studios on this coming-of-age adventure.
