One of the most critically acclaimed films of the year to date, Nomadland is not only a critical favorite, but a surefire Oscar contender too. However, before it competes for Oscar love, it has to actually come out. We now know that a timely release will be made on February 19th, just in time to qualify for the Academy. Frances McDormand is phenomenal in Chloé Zhao’s touching film and wonderfully comments on the difficult condition of those who live on the edge of society. Director Chloé Zhao’s third feature film, NOMADLAND, shows real nomads Linda May, Swankie and Bob Wells as Ferns mentors and comrades as they explore the vast landscape of the American West. “Zhao writes and directs, with Joshua James Richards providing the camera and Ludovico Einaudi composing the score. The cast is rounded off by David Strathairn, Linda May, Swankie and others.
