The time of giving is just around the corner and with that in mind, e-commerce giant Shopee will be running the Shopee Giving Tree campaign in line with its upcoming Christmas sale.
While 2020 is a tough year, Shopee wants to nurture a stronger community spirit by celebrating small kind acts that can make a meaningful difference.
From December 1st to December 25th, Shopee will support the local community with charitable initiatives that allow shoppers to spread the festive cheer.
It has also brought in partners like foodpanda, UOB, and Häagen-Dazs to make giving more fun and rewarding.
There are four simple ways users can give back to Shopee: (1) participate in Shopee Farm, (2) donate through Shopee’s Digital Donation Drive, (3) donate your Shopee Coins, (4) purchase meaningful Christmas gifts from Social Services .
When shopping at Shopee this Christmas, think of these simple ways to do good and give back:
1. Plant a giving tree on Shopee Farm

It’s the time of joy and giving, and Shopee lets you do your part through Shopee Farm.
From December 15 to 19, buyers can take part in the #ShopeeGivesBack edition as a donation act.
To enter, simply choose a seed from Foodpanda, UOB, or Häagen-Dazs to plant and water regularly until it reaches the harvest stage.
If you harvest your Giving Tree by December 31st, you can redeem exclusive partner vouchers. For every tree harvested, Shopee and our partners will donate USD 1 to the beneficiaries from December 15-19.
2. Donate and be rewarded

Shopee makes it very convenient for you to do good by allowing you to donate directly in its app. Until December 25th, users can donate to charity of their choice.
The main beneficiary of Shopee this year is the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Center’s (NVPC) SG Cares Giving Week Fund.
This partnership aims to support smaller and lesser known charity partners who have been hit by the decline in donations to their cause, as well as those facing the lack of donation opportunities.
The impact these smaller charities have on their beneficiaries – from social concerns like children, seniors, health, animal welfare to the arts and heritage – are vital, so we should definitely help.
You can donate S $ 5, 10, and S $ 25 denominations to the SG Cares Giving Week Fund. In return, donors receive a voucher from Shopees participating partners – foodpanda, UOB and Häagen-Dazs – as a token of appreciation.

3. Donate Shopee Coins

In addition to donating money, Shopee allows users to donate their in-app currency Shopee Coins, which can be used to offset purchases.
You can easily earn Shopee Coins by doing simple tasks like checking in daily and participating in a variety of in-app activities.
With just 100 Shopee coins, you can redeem them to donate S $ 1 to non-governmental organizations such as the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) Patients in Need Fund, Lions Befrienders, Breast Cancer Foundation and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) .
4. Buy Christmas gifts

Until December 25th, in partnership with the North East Community Development Council, you can purchase major Christmas gifts from social service agencies on Shopee such as SPD, Very Special Arts and Touch Community Services.
They each sell handcrafted goods, from stationery like greeting cards and magazines to festive foods like roast turkey and gingerbread cookies, as well as pillow cases and umbrellas.
Every purchase you make from them helps give them meaning, and your purchase also gives them a sustainable livelihood.
Give forever this Christmas
As we bask in the festive season, we must also remember those who are underprivileged and are in troubled times during this pandemic-ridden time.
In light of the true Christmas gift giving season, go one step further than giving gifts to loved ones by giving back to the community.
Some people are less fortunate than others and may not be able to receive Christmas presents this holiday season. So this can be your chance to spread some joy and put a smile on their faces.
Shopee also makes it easy for you to give back with a few simple taps of your finger, and that one little act of kindness will definitely go a long way in touching the lives of those in need.
In addition, Shopee rewards you with vouchers for every donation you make.
Spread the joy of Christmas with Shopee by helping these charities to feed themselves with the financial support they need to continue their good work for the communities they serve.
