SIA Trials Digital Well being Passport For COVID-19 Take a look at Outcomes, Vaccinations

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has launched trials with a digital health check-up app that will validate Covid-19 test results and passengers’ vaccination status.

The process started on Wednesday is intended to facilitate the revitalization of air traffic.

As part of the study, travelers on SIA flights from Jakarta or Kuala Lumpur will receive either a digital certificate or a paper health certificate with a QR code when they take their COVID-19 tests at selected clinics.

The Singapore Immigration Service then scans the QR code to verify the authenticity of the certificates and ensure that passengers meet the requirements for entry.

SIA can extend the digital health screening process to other cities on its network if the trials are successful.

It is also planned to integrate the process into its SingaporeAir mobile app from mid-2021.

SIA has also worked with various partners on the process, including the Department of Transportation, the Singapore Civil Aviation Administration (CAAS), the Immigration and Control Authority and the Changi Airport Group.

According to SIA, the digital health screening process is the first in the world to be based on the Travel Pass of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The IATA Travel Pass is a global and standardized solution for the validation and authentication of all country regulations regarding the COVID-19 requirements for passenger travel.

Transport Minister Ong Ye Kung said in a Facebook post that he welcomed the industry’s initiative and that the government would “support it as well as [we] can to make this a regional or international practice. ”

Facilitating the reopening of the travel industry

Singapore is currently planning to set up Air Travel Bubbles (ATB) with other nations, as well as various green and fast lane agreements, and has since opened its borders to China, Australia and Taiwan.

With a digital passport app, checking the Covid-19 test results and the vaccination status of passengers is made easier and faster.

As a result, travel can be performed seamlessly as travel increases.

As the Singaporeans will soon have COVID-19 vaccinations and travel expenses will increase, this app will definitely play an important role.
