Sydney Grace Cliff Leaping Cream Shadow (2020) ($ 8.00 for 0.34 oz.) Is a light to medium-sized taupe with subtle, warm undertones and an almost pewter, metallic sheen. It had an opaque pigmentation in a single layer that was applied evenly and smoothly to bare skin.

The texture was light, runny, and quickly dried to a powdery finish where it remained miscible around the edges but no longer made pliable. It stayed a good eight and a half hours before it wrinkled and closer to nine and a half hours before it faded in color / finish.

Formula overview

$ 8.00 / 0.34 oz. – – $ 23.53 per ounce

The formula is said to “dry to a smudge-proof finish” that is not waterproof but “lasts on the lids all day”. The brand recommends using “one eye at a time” as a formula “dr[ies] quite fast. “For the most part it’s an incredibly pigmented formula where a small swab is more than enough to cover the mobile lid. I always find it best to put the product on the back of my hand or on a metal pallet with these to go .

It was recently formulated to extend the shelf life from six months to twelve months. However, there were changes to the base formula that cut the total wear time for me – by an hour or two. Previously, they wore me between eight and ten hours, with most colors on the longer end of that range.

With the updated formula, wear was over eight to nine hours with a tendency to wrinkle over fading. So if I applied it to the inner tear duct or the forehead bones, the wear was more like nine hours or even ten hours, but if I wore the same shade in my crease, it would have wrinkles by eight hours. Otherwise, the formula tended to apply, mix, and act like the original formula – I just noticed that the wearing time was a bit reduced.

The texture was smooth like a liquid-cream hybrid because it wasn’t liquid, but it was easier to spread than the cream-colored eye shadow you’d find in a jar. Most shades were applied evenly to bare skin with little effort, and the edges remained miscible enough (even if mostly dried out) to soften and blend with other shades. They’re very light, and most of them sat well on my lids without highlighting lines or textures (sometimes an issue with liquid / off-white, more metallic products).

It wasn’t so dry that it felt so firm and firm that if you tried repeatedly to fade it out (after it was dry), it would peel off. these never peeled off or rose. Based on previous experience – generally with cream eye shadows – I recommend working with your powder eye shadows first (unless you are using them as a base) and then working with the cream eye shadows, going through all the areas to further them to mix if necessary. That being said, I was able to put powder eyeshadow over them without them lifting or staining. These are some of the easiest cream colored eye shadows I’ve worked with to incorporate into multicolored looks. The wear and tear varied from eight to ten hours on me before there was a slight fading or slight wrinkling.

If you’re someone who tends to use your off-white eye shadows as a sheer splash of color, I think this formula is “too” pigmented and dries too quickly to make pure application as effortless as you’d like. If you love the effect and finish of creamier, metallic eyeshadows and want a real, full-surface application, you should take a look at this. I recommend squeezing the smallest amount of the product on the back of your hand or on a mixing palette and then applying it to the lid with your fingertips or a flat synthetic brush. I prefer a paintbrush because it provides more working time than my fingertips.

Sydney Grace My Bond Cream Shadow (2020) ($ 8.00 for 0.34 oz.) Is a medium black, reddish brown base with a blue-teal sheen that gives it a metallic finish. It had an almost opaque color coverage in one layer that could easily be built up to complete coverage if desired.

The consistency was very runny, thin, and spreadable at first, although it quickly dried to a flexible, powdery finish that remained miscible along the edges. It wore well for eight and a half hours before it wrinkled and approached nine and a half hours before it visibly faded.
