Blushes Beneath $15 | 2020 Editor’s Favorites

If there is one type of product that I have more “room” to review, it would be baking products. Brands release a lot of these, but compared to eyeshadow palettes and lip products, I can dent the new releases quite a bit (while with lip products it feels like an avalanche). In 2020, there were just over 60 blushes under $ 15 to account for. This year’s list is therefore shorter than in previous years.

Last year’s favorites were dominated by Blush Stix from ColourPopwhich mostly seems to be set at this point (sigh!). While ColourPop was unable to get the releases out as usual for the first half of this year, they caught up again this past fall and during the holidays … they just seemed to be releasing the same kind of blush – lighter pinks and corals – and over and over again, which just didn’t hit the high notes for me. That being said, it was a late release Brute flute in their Super Shock Cheek formula which was superb.

Lethal Cosmetics’ also debuted powder blushes with a natural-matte to satin-like finish that is the finish right in my wheelhouse. I especially liked the variety of colors on offer – a diverse selection for a variety of undertones and skin tones. I made my way through The permanent powder blushes from Sydney Grace Earlier this year too and found some colors to fall in love with (but mind you, they are very pigmented).

If you don’t know how I want to make my year-end favorites, here is the information: I will fall back on the products I reviewed in 2020, regardless of whether they are new, limited-edition, or established products that I do just got I just came for the review. These are personal favorites, so they may or may not be the top-rated products that have been rated over the year (although they tend to be rated better, of course!). (You can check out the best of 2019 if you missed the last year.)

Your year in review: Blush Edition

I thought it would be interesting to read how readers used products all year round, which favorites came up, which products fell by the wayside. So, if you want to get involved, copy and paste the following questions and add your answers via a comment!

  • Which blush did you use the most this year?
  • Have you stopped any blushes this year?
  • Do you expect to expand your blush collection in 2021?
