Obasi Jackson, the brother of the late rapper Pop Smoke, appeared on Taraji P. Henson’s Facebook watch series Peace of Mind With Taraji, in which he announced that his brother received death threats before he was shot and killed during a home invasion in California.

“All of the stuff he went through was just – there was a time when he went through a situation that also … people knocked him down and counted him,” Obasi said. “Because of that, there were a lot of threats in his life. And people were trying to figure out where the threats were coming from. I didn’t think anyone would, and it’s just about a lot.”
Given the death threats, Obasi has a hard time understanding why Pop Smoke had insufficient security:
“It’s mind-boggling to me that someone would let a superstar out with no security. It’s still going on in my head. It just doesn’t make sense. So I don’t want to point my fingers, I am not as a person, but the truth is what the truth is and that bothers me, “he explained.
