Not all films were stopped making last year when the coronavirus pandemic hit. In fact, one particular film actually managed to get produced in Hollywood during that hiatus. The film in question? Locked (formerly known as lockdown). Doug Liman and his cast were filmed under apparently strict COVID protocols in October, doing what otherwise seemed impossible. Now the wisdom of making a movie about mandatory lockdown during mandatory lockdown remains to be seen. At the same time, Liman put together a damn good cast, led by Chiwetel Ejiofor and Anne Hathaway. So the ingredients are there. If we meet HBO Max in ten days, we’ll see it soon. In the meantime, a trailer has fallen which you can check out below …
The film is a mix of the robbery genre and romantic comedy. The official plot summary reads as follows: “Linda (Anne Hathaway) and Paxton (Chiwetel Ejiofor) find that life has different plans when they are stuck in a mandatory lockdown at home. Living together proves to be a challenge, but is brought closer together in the most surprising way through poetry and plenty of wine. “In addition to Ejiofor and Hathaway, the cast includes Lucy Boynton, Mark Gatiss, Dulé Hill, Mindy Kaling, Ben Kingsley, Stephen Marchant, Jazmyn Simon and Ben Stiller. Doug Liman, mentioned above, is directing a screenplay by Steven Knight.
