A staff member of the embarrassed R&B singer R. Kelly pleaded guilty to attempting to bribe a witness to prevent her from testifying against the singer.
Richard Arline Jr. told a Brooklyn federal court that he tried to pay a woman to prevent her from handing over electronic evidence against Kelly, who is awaiting a sexual trafficking trial.
Arline reportedly offered the woman $ 500,000.
R KELLY: I was robbed!
“I knew what I was doing was wrong,” Arline told the judge.
Kelly is accused of running a blackmail program that targeted girls and women. The women claimed he molested her, sometimes starved her, and locked her in rooms with little more than a pail to the toilet and a bed.
Kelly is currently being held in Chicago Federal Prison, where he is also awaiting a federal child pornography trial that will take place on April 7th following his trial in Brooklyn.
Kelly denies all charges against him.
