After a haunting, eye-opening trip to her parents’ hometown Eritrea, Mahary made the decision to start the non-profit organization Project Tsehighi, which means “sun” in Tigrinya, one of the national languages ​​of Eritrea. The Tsehighi project provides sustainable solutions for communities with limited resources by reducing inaccessibility and increasing sustainability Providing solutions for renewable energy like solar panels. Mahary’s mission is to use her voice to raise awareness of the work of marginalized communities and ultimately to improve their lives. “My whole outlook on life and everything I do has always been to level the playing field, and it has always been important to me to use my platform for that,” Mahary adds.
