Jon Tietz, Senior Fashion Editor at GQ, describes his style as “a mishmash of new and old shit – mostly old”. His current shirt reflects exactly that: It comes from a hot off the press collaboration between one of the best young visionaries in fashion, but feels like a grail you’d discover in the back room of your favorite thrift shop.
A few months ago Tietz was looking for “old, beaten up jerseys” on eBay when Grace Wales Bonner’s much-anticipated Adidas collection finally hit stores. Immediately this bright yellow soccer jersey caught his attention with its crisp buttonless collar and rich chocolate brown accents. “It didn’t look new, and that was the best part,” says Tietz. “I really loved what Wales Bonner did aesthetically. I love adopting the Jamaican ballroom style. It feels effortless and authentic. “
