EXCLUSIVE: Jess Gabor will play the upcoming feature film The Machine with Bert Kreischer and Mark Hamill, which is based on Kreischer’s successful viral story. The film is directed by Peter Atencio and written by Kevin Biegel and Scotty Landes. Kreischer will also produce with Legendarys Cale Boyter and Levitys Judi Marmel.
The film, described as The Hangover meets Midnight Run, is a genre-infused comedy inspired by Kreischer’s real-world adventures and the subsequent breakout stand-up routine The Machine, which has been viewed more than 85 million times. His past catches up with him when he and his father are kidnapped by those whom Bert wronged 20 years ago when he was drunk during a semester abroad in Russia.
Philip Waley will serve as executive producer, Jay Ashenfelter as associate producer and Jonathan English as co-producer with the Serbian production company Balkanic Media.
Gabor is best known for her performance in Season 9 and Season 10 of Showtime’s Shameless as Debbie’s friend Kelly. She recently starred alongside Judy Greer and Steve Zahn in Gringa by director EJ Foerster, which premiered online at AFM 2020. She can next be seen in the Blumhouse film Run Sweetheart Run, which premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival and will be released by Amazon Studios on Prime Video.
