Fb’s Oversight Board Says Donald Trump’s Suspension From The Platform Can Proceed To Keep In Place (Replace)

It looks like Donald Trump will continue to be blocked by Facebook, as decided by the company’s board of directors. However, another review of the decision must take place within six months.

His suspension from the platform was the result of the riots in the U.S. Capitol that occurred in January.

According to CNN, the board of directors said in its decision: “Within six months of this decision, Facebook will have to re-examine the arbitrary sentence imposed on January 7th and determine the appropriate penalty. This penalty must be based on the gravity of the violation and the prospect of future harm. It must also comply with Facebook’s Serious Violation Rules, which in turn must be clear, necessary and proportionate. “

Although it was decided that Trump could stay off the platform pending further investigation, the board added, “By imposing a vague, standard-less penalty and then referring this case to the board for resolution, Facebook is trying to evade its responsibilities. “

Trump’s suspension includes not only Facebook but Instagram as well, as the app is also owned by Facebook.

Trump had previously been suspended from Facebook “for an indefinite period” on January 7, and Mark Zuckerburg said at the time: “We believe that the risk that the President will be able to continue using our service during this time is simply too great. That is why we are extending the block that we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful change of power is complete. “

As previously reported, Trump was also suspended from Twitter shortly afterwards due to the uprising. However, he permanently lost access to his Twitter fingers, as Twitter previously explained: “After carefully examining the latest tweets from the @ realDonaldTrump account and the context around them, we have permanently banned the account due to the risk of further incitement to violence . “
