Almost everyone who exercises regularly wants to have a visible six-pack, but at the same time, defined abs are the least-seen muscle group among regular athletes. The fact is, the majority of athletes don’t know how to get a six pack.
Most people relate the feeling of tightness when crunching to a flat stomach, and therefore believe that crunches are the key to well-developed abs. Here are some common misconceptions about building six pack abs.

What’s True and What’s Wrong for Getting Visible Abs? Here are some of the most common misconceptions new athletes think are true:
1. If you do hundreds of crunches a day, you get a torn six pack abs. This is absolutely not true! Abs are a muscle group like biceps, triceps, or any other muscle group. If you do hundreds of crunches, you will NOT be defined. You will just burn out your abs. Weight crunches will make them stronger and a bit bigger if you give them enough rest and the right nutrients, but it won’t make them visible.
2. To shorten your waistline, you need to do crunches or sit-ups. Working a particular muscle doesn’t burn the fat around that muscle! The body is programmed to burn fat everywhere, not just one part.
So if you do a lot of crunches and sit-ups, you will have stronger and bigger abs, but these will not be visible when covered in fat. The key to having a six pack is getting rid of the excess body fat that you are carrying.
3. You can eat junk food and tons of carbohydrates because you exercise. Well, that’s partly true … some people can get away without a proper diet. However, they exercise regularly, get a LOT of exercise (have demanding physical work etc), and are usually blessed with one rapid metabolism. But let’s face it, the majority of people don’t get nearly enough exercise to burn all the calories they eat.
4th If you work your abs for hours every day, you will get great abs. No Just like doing hundreds of crunches, you just get overtrained and with no visible abs.

The key is a balanced diet as well burn more calories than you eat Every day. Being able to see a well-defined six pack has nothing to do with ab exercise. It has everything to do with body fat.
When you do compound exercises like squats, deadlifts, and bench presses, you are already working hard on your abs.
Try eliminating sugar from your diet, increasing your fiber intake, eating more protein, and eating 500-600 calories fewer than you normally eat on a daily basis.
Do light 30-minute cardio sessions (cycling, fast walking, swimming, etc.) 3-4 times a week.
This is enough to get you started and see some real results in 2-3 months.
