Detroit rapper Big Homie was arrested after displaying guns related to seven shootings on his Instagram page.
According to the Detroit News, the rapper is a convicted felon and is banned from owning firearms. According to the federal prosecutor’s office, he held a machine gun and other weapons during the Instagram video. Big Homie flashed a Glock pistol equipped with a device that turned the semi-automatic firearm into a fully automatic machine gun.
The Feds searched his house and after doing a ballistic test they were able to link the machine gun to the shootings.
His lawyer issued the following statement.
“Many of these young rap artists on social media are now facing the use of guns in videos,” said Steven Scharg. “That doesn’t necessarily mean they are thugs or believe in assault. It’s just part of the rap industry’s facade.”
Big Homie is being held without commitment and faces up to 10 years in federal prison.
