Drake is arguably one of the greatest entertainers of the last decade, and his stats and accomplishments can attest to that! He recently received the Billboard Artist of the Decade Award and made history with his latest album, Certified Lover Boy, with nine of the album’s 10 songs debuting in the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Drake surpassed Michael Jackson on most of the top 10 hits on the same album – “Thriller” held the record since 1982 – sparking an online debate about whether or not Champagne Papi’s success is comparable to that of the Prince of Pop. Michael Jackson’s son Prince recently said it was unlikely to match his father’s level of success.
“I mean, everyone has their own definition of great and all respect for Drake and everything they do,” Prince told TooFab. “But what my father and family achieved in the time they did it will most likely never be achieved again.”
Just a few weeks ago, social media was in a turmoil after a Twitter account asked whether Drake will not be bigger than Michael Jackson in his prime in 2021. The debate sparked right after Drake’s CLB success, but the overwhelming response on social media thought MJ was the greatest one ever.
“Michael passed out at his shows just because he came on stage and took off his glasses,” commented one fan.
“We just can’t be so bored LOL,” wrote the 9th Wonder Twitter account. “There is no comparison to Michael Jackson. We will never see that again. Everyone was in the house when Thriller was on. In the house. I mean, STOP EVERYTHING you do and run INTO the house. “
Drizzy has not yet responded to the comparison.
